I was wrong about Justin Bieber

I hated his music when I was a teenager, and I surely don't like it now. But now, when I look back at my edgy teenage years and try to find out why exactly I hated him and got into the rage train, I couldn't find a reasonable answer. No deranged opinion, no memorable misconduct or aggression. Nothing, zero.

I didn't have to like him or his music, but I didn't have to hate him either. If I had hated him just for his music, I'd have hated several other musicians too, and that's not the case.

The reason many people hated him (me included) was mob behaviour.

People enjoy hating, specially in groups, it gives a strong feeling of belonging and purpose. Nickelback, Adam Sandler...you name it, the mob will always be hating, bashing and degrading someone for the most pitiful reasons possible. Combine that with this idiotic culture of snobbish art critics who are gratuitously obnoxious and you have this abomination of self-indulgent mobs that goes ballistic to destroy people no matter what.

Nowadays this gratuitous mob-driven hate feels just...pathetic. It's something I'd expect from older times when superstition ruled and public executions was the norm, but here we are. As a song made by a singer from my country says: "I see the future repeating the past, I see a museum of great novelties".

With so many things going on in the world that trully deserve our anger and outrage, a young singer cultivating his musical career is not one of them. It's not like he gave orders to invade another country and search for weapons of mass destruction that doesn't exist...or is giving taxpayer money to fund a genocidal apartheid state full of deranged people...or just started a war with a well armed country who's hard to invade, is gradually destroying his millitary infrastructure through attrition warfare, and also happens to control one of the main oil trade routes in the world (all of this after roasting all his allies with tariffs, insults and then begging for their help).

In the present scenario, hate celebrities for the sake of hate start to sound even more retarded than it already was in the past. Not just because it's something petty but also because, right now, no celebrity frivolity or extravagancy can surpass the idiocy and derangement of the so-called "world leaders".
